High School DxD is a Japanese light novel series written by Ichiei Ishibumi and illustrated by Miyama-Zero. It has been adapted into an anime television series in 2012.
PLOT
Issei Hyodo is a second year high school student who has got an enormous sexual addiction and very lascivious behavior. He lives a peaceful life until he is called for a date with a girl named Yuuma. At the conclusion of the date, Hyodo is brought to a local park and Yuuma asks him if he wants to know what her wish is. Under the impression of receiving a kiss from the girl, Hyodo is shocked when Yuuma whispers the words "Can you die for me?" and transforms into a fallen angel. Hyodo is brutally attacked and killed by Yuuma. Hyodo wakes up the next morning believing the events that occurred were all just a dream. Immediately afterwards, he notices Rias Gremory (a third year student at his high school) naked in his room. Rias reveals her identity as a devil to Hyodo and claims that she has reincarnated Hyodo as a devil that serves as an underling to her and the Gremory devil family. Now he lives as her slave.

- The male protagonist of the series. He's a pervert, has a habit of fantasizing, and is well known for being creepy at the academy, but he's also surprisingly hot-blooded and hard-working. His first girlfriend suddenly kills him, but Rias saves him and brings him back to life as a devil of her own clan, making him a member of the Occult Research Club. His rank is "Pawn" and his powers as a devil rank at the bottom so far, but on his left arm he wields the Sacred Gear, Crimson Dragon Emperor's Gauntlet. He works hard day and night for the sake of his master and the highest ranking devil, Rias. His goal is to one day rise in rank into a high class devil so that he can gather his own servants and create his own harem.

- The female protagonist of the series. She's a madonna of the academy, Issei's master, and a woman people admire. Her true identity is the Crimson-Haired Ruin Princess, the heir to one of the highest ranking and famous devil families, the Gremory. She's enrolled as an exchange student, but the truth is that she holds the power in the academy, and acts as the president of the Occult Research Club, which is made up of the devils under her command. Her rank is "King". She's an invincible heroine who saw the power sleeping in Issei and took interest in him.
- Akeno Himejima
Komaou Private Academy High School, Senior. Rank: Queen.
- Akeno is the second-in-command of the Gremory clan, known as the "Priestess of Thunder". She's vice president of the Occult Research Club, and her rank is "Queen". She's a beautiful girl who ranks second in popularity after Rias.
- Asia Argento
- Komaou Private Academy High School, Sophomore. Rank: Bishop.
- Asia is a beautiful Sister who Issei met while in town. She is a girl with a gentle heart who possesses a divine sacred gear, "Twilight Healing", in her body that is capable of healing the wounds of humans, angels, fallen angels and devils alike.
- While the pervert in Issei wants to do ecchi things to her, his actual feelings towards Asia is a bit complicated as he also sees himself as the protective guardian of the simple-minded, pure-hearted girl that Asia is, which in turn deters him from doing all the aforementioned things to her that he fantasises about.
- Koneko Tōjo
- Komaou Private Academy High School, Sophomore. Rank: Rook.
- A small girl who is a grade junior to Issei, she's the mascot of the school because of her cute loli appearance. Being the "Rook" of Rias, she boasts of extreme physical strength as well as defenses. Not the talkative type, she's more of a cool type, and being the one in the group who gets along with Issei the least, when she does open her mouth she usually insults and rebukes Issei regarding his weakness and perverted nature. She's almost always seen eating something(most commonly youkan) when not in action.
- Yūto Kiba
- Komaou Private Academy High School, Sophomore. Rank: Knight.
- Yuto is a gentle swordsman and his rank in the Occult Research Club is "Knight". He calls himself Issei's friend, but he has good looks, a very good brain, and a pretty nice personality, so he's the object of admiration for all the female students, which causes Issei to see him as an enemy (for no reason). However, due to the events in his past, he has an immense hatred towards the holy swords, as well as about everything and everyone associated with them.
